Microsoft Corporation (commonly referred to
as Microsoft) is an American multinational
technology company headquartered in Redmond,
Washington, that develops, manufactures, licenses,
supports and sells computer software, consumer
electronics and personal computers and services.
Its best known software products are the Microsoft
Windows line of operating systems, Microsoft Office
office suite, and Internet Explorer and Edge web
browsers. Its flagship hardware products are the
Xbox game consoles and the Microsoft Surface
tablet lineup. It is the world's largest software
maker by revenue, and one of the world's most
valuable companies.
Microsoft was founded by Paul Allen and
Bill Gates on April 4, 1975, to develop and sell BASIC interpreters
for Altair 8800. It rose to dominate the personal computer operating
system market with MS-DOS in the mid-1980s, followed by
Microsoft Windows.


Microsoft Disk Operating System (1981)

      -   Allows the user to navigate, open otherwise manipulates files on their 
computer from a command line instead of a GUI like Windows.





Microsoft Windows 1.0 (1985)

         -   A  graphical personal computer operating environment developed by 
Microsoft . Microsoft had worked with Apple Computer to develop applications 
for Apple's January 1984 original Macintosh , the first mass-produced personal 
computer with a graphical user interface .     




Microsoft Windows 2.0 (1987)

        -  Allowed application windows to overlap each other unlike its predecessor
Windows 1.0  , which could only display tiled windows.  Windows 2.0
also introduced more sophisticated keyboard- shortcuts and the terminology
of "Minimize" and "Maximize", as opposed to "Iconize" and " zoom "in
Windows 1.0.  
   



Windows 3.0 (1990)

          - In 1990, Microsoft released this short-life version of Windows, Windows 
3.0. It came with a lot of improvement, but also with the lack of multimedia and 
network features, that made Windows 3.0 quickly be replaced by Windows 3.1. 
The improvement of the appearance of the interface in Windows 3.1 was big.  
           



Windows 3.0 with Multimedia Extensions (1991)

          - This version appears to have been released to manufacturers only and not
sold as a standalone product.  Once you get in to it though, you can see it is the
same Windows 3.0 software with nothing changed except for the addition
of several new applications.  The new applications are Media Player, Music
Box , Sound Recorder and a new clock.  and this version includes screen savers.         





Windows NT 3.1 (1992)

          -  Windows NT 3.1 was the  first  version of Windows NT.  Windows NT
3.1 was a 32-bit operating system written from the ground up.




Windows 95 (1995)

      - Windows 95 is a consumer-oriented  operating system  developed by
Microsoft. It was released on August 24, 1995,   and was a significant
improvement over the company's previous  DOS -based  Windows products.    



Windows NT 4.0 (1996)

      -  It was part of  Microsoft 's  Windows NT  line of  operating systems
and was released to manufacturing on July 31, 1996.  It is a  32-bit Windows
system available in both workstation and server editions with a graphical
environment similar to that of  Windows 95 .            



Windows 98 (1998)

           - Windows 98 is a  graphical operating system  by  Microsoft . It is the
second major release in the Windows 9x  line of operating system and the
successor to Windows 95 . It was  released to manufacturing  on May 15, 1998
and to retail on
June 25, 1998 .        



Windows 98 Second Edition (1999)

           -  Windows 98 Second Edition includes many improvements and 
enhancements not included in the original version of Windows 98. These 
include fixes for known issues in Windows 98, and new tools and capabilities 
to help you be more productive. 




Windows 2000, Windows NT 5.0, Windows ME (Millennium Edition) (2000) 

Windows 2000

Windows 2000 is an operating system for use on both client and server computers. It was produced by Microsoft and released to manufacturing on July 15, 1999 and launched to retail on February 17, 2000. It is the successor to Windows NT 4.0, and the last version of Microsoft Windows to display the "Windows NT" designation

Windows NT 5.0



Windows ME

Windows Millennium also known as Windows ME, was introduced September 14, 2000 to the general public as the upgrade for Windows 95 and Windows 98 users and is designed for end-users. Overall, Windows ME has the look and feel of Windows 98 with some fixes and additional features not available in previous operating systems.


Windows XP (2001)

          - Windows XP is an operating system introduced in 2001 from 
Microsoft's Windows family of operating system, the previous version 
of Windows being Windows ME. The "XP" in Windows XP stands for 
e xp erience. Microsoft called the XP release its most important product 
since Windows 95. Along with a redesigned look and feel to the user 
interface, the new operating system was built on the Windows 2000 kernel, 
giving users a more stable and reliable environment than previous versions 
of Windows.




Windows Server 2003 (2003)

     -  Windows Server 2003   is a  server operating system  produced by
Microsoft  and released on April 24, 2003.  It was a successor of
Windows 2000 Server and incorporated some of Windows XP  features. 
     



 Windows Vista (2006)

           - Windows Vista is the next evolution of Microsoft's operating
system. Vista offers an advancement in reliability, security, ease, of
deployment, performance and manageability over Windows XP.





Windows Home Server, Windows Vista SP1 (2007)
Windows Home Server

Announced by Microsoft in January 2007, Windows Home Server (WHS) is a consumer server option designed for use with multiple computers connected in the home. Home Server allows you to share files such as digital photos and media files, and also allows you to automatically backup your home networked computers. 



Windows Home Server 2008 (2008)

          - Windows Server 2008 is one of Microsoft Windows' server l
ine of operating systems. Released to manufacturing on February 4, 2008,
and officially released on February 27, 2008, it is the successor to Windows
Server 2003, released nearly five years earlier.





Windows 7 Beta, Windows 7 (2009)

          - Windows 7 made its official debut to the public on October 22, 2009 as
the latest in the 25-year-old line of Microsoft Windows operating system and
as the successor to Windows Vista (which itself had followed Windows XP).



Windows 8 (2012)

          - According to Microsoft, Windows 8 is a completely redesigned operating 
system developed from the ground up with touchscreen use in mind as well as 
near-instant-on capabilities that enable a Windows 8 PC to load and start up 
in a matter of seconds rather than in minutes.
Windows 8 replaces the more traditional Microsoft Windows OS look
and feel with a new interface design system.




Windows 10 (2015)

          - Windows 10 is the latest release of Microsoft's Windows operating
system and the successor to the underwhelming Windows 8 (and Windows 8.1).
